DreamWear Configuration

This mask is very impressive. We actually call this a hybrid because it's a cross between a pillow mask and a nasal mask. The interesting thing about this mask is that the hose actually attaches to the top of the head and all of the air comes through the frame of the mask to the pillow that's underneath the mask. So the quick connector is at the very top. That stays in your tube so if you want to have a bathroom break, you can just basically disconnect the tube and get out of bed, but when you lie in bed, you can roll left and right, squash the tube and the same amount of air still comes through the pillow at this point. So this is the only mask that I'm aware of that you can comfortably even lie on your tummy if you ever wanted to.
On the bottom of the mask is the pillow, which if I pull apart, you'll be able to see is just a hole. There are no pillows that go inside your nostrils. I personally am not a fan of pillow masks because I find that they irritate my nose, which is why I use a nasal cup myself. Some people love them. I think this is a really fantastic innovation for a cross between the two. It has all of the upsides of being minimalistic on our face, but none of the downsides as far as the irritation goes.

Partner Friendly

Twenty five percent of the exit air comes out of the front and 75% of the exit comes out of the top. So Philips have really tried to minimise the amount of partner  disturbance by limiting the amount of air that comes out of the front. There's still a fairly steady stream of air that comes out of the front, but I find it very minimalistic compared to some of the masks that are on the market at the moment.

Fitting The Mask

Now there is a trick with the way that we fit this mask. What we want to have is the back head strap quite low underneath the skull cap there and when we first put it on, it feels like it's quite loose so first indications people say "Oh, the mask leaks," but there's a trick that Philips showed me to make this seal really, really well. I'm going to show it to you now.

The Trick to Sealing The Mask

So the mask sits on like that and once you have the mask on and you've adjusted the straps, remember both sides at the same time to get a good feel, the back gets pulled down and this stays up the top of the head. The way to make it seal really well is to run your fingers up the frame like this. As soon as you do that, the mask almost sucks to the face and there is no leakage whatsoever. I could put this on 20 centimetres and there won't be any leakage around the place at all. The only exit air comes out of the front and out of the very top.

As far as a hybrid mask goes, I've never seen a design like this, but I'm thoroughly impressed. I'm a real fan of this mask.
